KU DO AZÒ Throw green/crimson

KU DO AZÒ, “good job” in Fon, is a collection developed by Estelle Chatelin and Georges Ahokpe. It is the result of their exchanges about raw materials, their circulation, uses and textile practices in Belgium and Benin.

Huge quantities of second-hand sweaters exported from the West end up on the market in Cotonou. The trio revalues these garments made of wool and other mixed fibers unused in Benin by creating objects for Europe. Because one of the main problems is that the importation of low-cost second-hand clothes on the territory is gradually replacing the work of the weavers.

Description

Each piece is a color chart created from a meticulous selection of knitted sweaters. Made from a long piece woven on the Beninese loom, this throw is composed of 5 strips of fabric assembled by hand.

The sequences and rhythm of the colors play with the graphic connections and shifts in the assembly and create a vibrant fabric for versatile use.

This piece is one of the first we have made and was produced in Benin in Abomey.

40% Burkina Faso cotton (warp), 60% mixed fiber (weft)

140 x 200 cm

Other colors and sizes available on request with a 6 weeks production period.
