De ABC Cinema, die in 1972 in Brussel werd geopend in het hart van de gouden eeuw van de pornografie, een periode die ook wel “de betoverende parenthese” wordt genoemd, verdween in 2013. Deze bioscoop, gelegen in het hart van de hoofdstad, was een van de laatste pornografische bioscopen ter wereld die films op 35 mm-zilverfilm vertoonde. Via de geschiedenis van deze film schetst het boek een portret van een verboden ondergrondse wereld, een onderwerp waarover maar weinig werken in het Frans zijn verschenen.<\/p>\n

In de loop van zijn eenenveertigjarig bestaan is het ABC een soort clandestien museum geworden, gevuld met rollen celluloid, stapels posters en foto’s, overvol met gestapelde dozen: een doolhof van ruimtes die worden achtervolgd door onvertelde verhalen. Naast een verlichte historische invalshoek zijn talrijke getuigenissen verzameld van toeschouwers die er kwamen of werkten (strippers, projectiemedewerkers…). De teksten zijn rijkelijk ge\u00efllustreerd met documenten die vaak zeldzaam of zelfs onuitgegeven zijn: foto’s van de operatie, persberichten en reclameposters…<\/p>\n
