Le patrimoine de la Belgique vu par l\u2019occupant. Un h\u00e9ritage photographique de la Grande Guerre\u00a0pr\u00e9sente une collection de photographies uniques au monde et retrace, \u00e0 travers des documents d\u2019archives in\u00e9dits, son histoire, de la gen\u00e8se du projet d\u2019inventaire \u00e0 nos jours.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Mai 1917. L\u2019Europe est \u00e0 feu et \u00e0 sang et les civils belges endurent l\u2019occupation allemande depuis pr\u00e8s de trois ans. Dans cette funeste ambiance, le gouverneur g\u00e9n\u00e9ral de la Belgique occup\u00e9e donne son feu vert \u00e0 une entreprise exceptionnelle : faire \u00e9tablir, par les meilleurs sp\u00e9cialistes allemands, l\u2019inventaire photographique du patrimoine culturel belge. Son but : montrer que les Allemands ne sont pas les barbares tant d\u00e9cri\u00e9s auxquels on reproche le bombardement de nombreuses villes historiques de France et de Belgique. Jusqu\u2019\u00e0 l\u2019Armistice, entre 30 et 40 hommes et femmes \u2013 historiens de l\u2019art, architectes et photographes \u2013 produisent plus de 10.000 photographies, toutes sur plaques de verre et d\u2019une qualit\u00e9 technique et esth\u00e9tique extraordinaire.<\/p>\n
