Cinéma ABC | La nécropole du porno

Auteur: Jimmy Pantera

Description

Opened in Brussels in 1972 at the heart of the golden age of porn, a period sometimes nicknamed “the enchanted parenthesis”, Cinema ABC disappeared in 2013.

Anchored in the heart of the capital, it was one of the last porn cinemas to the world to screen films on 35-millimeter film. Through the history of this cinema, the book paints a portrait of a forbidden underground world, a subject about which very few books have been published in French.

Over its forty-one years of existence, the ABC has become a sort of underground museum, filled with reels of celluloid, piles of posters and photos, overflowing with stacked cardboard boxes: a maze of spaces haunted by unacknowledged accounts. In addition to an enlightened historical point of view, many testimonies of spectators who attended or worked there (strippers, projectionists …) were collected. The texts are richly illustrated by documents that are often rare, even unpublished: operating photos, press paving stones and promotional posters…
